I keep reading people are trading in their Surface Pro 2 and getting a new one, do you do this within the return period? Or is there actually a good upgrade program going on at BestBuy? I have the first gen 128GB Surface Pro and really could use a 256 SSD AND 8GB RAM (went from 500GB SSHD + 8GB RAM to 128SSD + 4GB RAM :P).
Surface Pro 2.5 i5 4300U 1.9 Ghz 2.5 Ghz
I am not an IT guy. Did Microsoft release a Surface Pro 2.5?
I returned my Surface Pro 2 (v. 256GB) because of the poor performance after the failed12.10.13 firmware update. I recall the SP2 I returned having a i5 4200U processor.
To my surprise, when I checked the System Properties in the Control Panel on my replacement SP2, the processor was upgraded to a i5 4300U @ 1.9Ghz. - 2.5 Ghz.
Perhaps this is old news. Can anyone explain this change or know of any other improvements? Thank you.

2014-02-06T18:17:10+00:00 What was the storage size? I've read elsewhere some buyers getting the 14xx lot number of the 512gb model were getting the older processor, but not any of the other storage sizes.
I should've mentioned that in my post, whoops. I bought a Lot 1401 128GB SP2 yesterday, and it had the older 4200 CPU. I went into try and exchange it this morning; Best Buy had a Lot 1351 128GB so I gave it a shot and it DID have the newer 4300 CPU. Very pleased. I really wanted the 256GB model with more RAM, but Best Buy doesn't have it yet and Microcenter (they had a Lot 1402 256GB SP2 ) won't finance me lol. If Best Buy gets any in in the next 14 days I will exchange it for the more expensive model, but I'm really not worried about it at this point.
Edit - A BestBuy near me finally received an order of the 256GB models so I traded my 128GB in and picked one up and it does have the newer 4300 CPU at Lot number 1402.
So to recap: I originally bought a Lot 1401 128GB that contained the older 4200 CPU. I traded that in and got a Lot 1351 128GB that contained the newer 4300 CPU. I traded THAT one in and got a Lot 1402 256GB that contains the newer 4300 CPU. BestBuy must hate me lol. I felt kinda bad, but I wanted to have the best for my money and I would've bought a 256GB the first time around if I had suspected they would get a shipment in so soon after my intended purchase date.

2014-02-06T17:56:00+00:00 Just pick up my Lot 1401 SP2 from BestBuy today, and completely forgot to check the CPU until I was messing around with something a minute ago. This darn thing has the 4200! I'm heated! I want to get the slight increase for the price I just paid. I will be going back to Best Buy first thing in the morning to see if they can swap it out, but how will I know that the other Surface I try and exchange it with is the right one?? I know they have at least a few lot 1351s, but I thought 1401 would be a safe bet. Wrong.
Happy to say I just got a lot #1404 from Best Buy Online, SP2 512gb and finally (3rd attempt) I got a 4300 :-)

Edit - My Lot 1401 is/was a 128GB model. Traded it in and got a Lot 1351 with the 4300. Yay!
