I am not an IT guy. Did Microsoft release a Surface Pro 2.5?
I returned my Surface Pro 2 (v. 256GB) because of the poor performance after the failed12.10.13 firmware update. I recall the SP2 I returned having a i5 4200U processor.
To my surprise, when I checked the System Properties in the Control Panel on my replacement SP2, the processor was upgraded to a i5 4300U @ 1.9Ghz. - 2.5 Ghz.
Perhaps this is old news. Can anyone explain this change or know of any other improvements? Thank you.

Yes it is. Every lot number starting with 14XX should have the i5 4300U processor 😊
Almost, not quite though -- it's pretty much lot numbers 145X and above, with 14 being the year and the last 2 digits being the week produced. The newest lot number I've seen referenced is 1501.
From what I've read online, some 1450's have the new CPU, most of the 1451's and then everything 1452 and higher all have the newer CPU.
The reference that all 14XX have the new is definitely inaccurate :-(

A discussion about clock speed and the more of power is boring! I bought my device (4200) at the same time with same costs from a big electronic market. Day one, i updated with the firmware that blowed up my devive. I went back to the store, 20 km and changed it to another device, also a 4200. 3 days later i newly had problems with the battery life and bootloops. with the microsoft exchange service i changed again to a used! 4200 device. For nearly 1000€ i bought a SP2 with the "a-lot-of-trouble-package" and at the third time i become an older and used device - after 1 week of using ????
Sorry MS, thats not what i understand about what you say in the TV Spots. That is not ok and i do not discuss with anybody about the more percent of performance, for the same money, i have to become the same device. And please do not tell me that it is normal to change the hardware in this way after 2 month of release.
Can't say I don't disagree with much of what you say. Having come from using an iPad for the last few years, my experience with a SP2 has been in many ways a contrast. Apple has got it down as far as the positive user experience goes. From their knowledgeable staff (both in their stores or on their phone lines), to the purchase experience, unboxing, using and getting support for an iPad after a purchase. Very much the opposite of my Microsoft experience. Doesn't mean they won't get better, but they've got a long way to go before they're even close to Apple's lever of customer experience :-(
