Surface Pro 4 Pen needs to be re-bluetooth paired after waking up/turning on surface

Hello,

My surface pro 4 pen needs to be re-paired via bluetooth after the computer has been sleeping/hibernating in order for the eraser button to function when clicked.  It still shows up as a connected device in the bluetooth settings, and still writes properly even when the eraser button does not work.  After removing the pen from the list of connected devices and re-pairing, everything seems to work properly but this is obviously inconvenient. Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Hi Connor,

For us to assist you, can you provide the following information:

    • Have you tried to check for and install the latest updates or firmware version?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far to resolve the issue?

    Regards.

We should have an 'UNHELPFUL' category added to this forum! Erwin, to be fair this problem has been experienced by so many that Microsoft should be on top of it by now.  Many of us have re-installed, updated to the latest firmware and run troubleshooting. None have resolved the issue.

    The issue is easily reproducible.

    1. Set the power profile to hibernate when the power button is pressed.
    2. Hibernate the pro 4.
    3. Boot pro 4 from hibernated state.
    4. Pen button fails to function.

Every time a pro 4 is booted from an hibernated state the pen button fails.  Switch the power profile to 'Power Off' and the issue is resolved, i.e., the pen button works every time.

I'm also having the exact same problem for what it's worth. Works just as everyone else is describing this. I just got my Surface Pro 4 today and already having this issue. Not a deal breaker, but extremely annoying...

I just realized that since I set up a family account for my girlfriend on my surface pro 4, this issue disappeared and the pen button start working properly everytime waken from hibernating (but you must log in both accounts! This is very important!!!). Could someone try this and post the result? Hope this may help. Not native speaker, sorry for my English.
