Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

A fix for this issue is now available through Windows Update. Please review the Surface Book 3 Update History page.

Hello, I have the same problem.

The problem can be exacerbated by e.g. Connect a USB stick directly to the Surfac and write or read data on it. Then it is hardly possible to work.

    Regards

I've recently experienced this with my Surface Book 3 15" (32gb).

I decided to change my desk setup and bought the Surface Dock 2 and tried to use an external keyboard. Suddenly I'm getting missed keys or repeated keys. I've tried two different keyboards, and tried the keyboards on other machines to confirm it's not a problem with them, but with the Surface Book itself.

    It's deeply annoying.

I've tried a few things suggested on these threads, but it appears to happen with or without the dock, so it seems to be something to do with the Surface Book 3, and with so many people reporting it, it doesn't give me much hope a replacement will solve it.

Hoping Microsoft can provide a fix soon!

Save yourself a lot of time.

    1. Return the SB3 ASAP.
    2. Switch to another brand with more reliable brand name with better service.
    3. Help others avoid this heartache and loss of time by warning them about the MS hardware issues and lack of support.

The only thing i could do to mitigate this was use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with no dongles or receivers.
