I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it. I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.
With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes. Mouse motion ceases then resumes.
I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.
I know others have seen this problem. It should be easy to reproduce. Can someone from Microsoft try this please.
This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

Did you adjust the 'USB selective suspend' setting I mentioned previously? You don't need the High Performance plan for that, you can do it on the Balanced (default) plan. That alone fixed all keyboard/mouse issues for me.
Oh, I see, set by now. Many Thanks.
Will see if it works.
Hopefully it does as others report fix as successful.
Unfortunately, looks that it not working for me.
Did I miss somethiiiiiiiiiiiiing? :(
Hi,
If this does turn out to be an effective temporary fix, would someone mind listing all the instructions together? All of the steps are kinda scattered throughout this discussion, and I won't wanna miss any and screw up my computer any more than microsoft already has lol
I did not have the 'USB Settings' option on either the Balanced or High Performance plan.
This registry tweak added it back in:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\2a737441-1930-4402-8d77-b2bebba308a3\48e6b7a6-50f5-4782-a5d4-53bb8f07e226]
"Attributes"=dword:00000002
*Note that there are two lines above.
I found it here https://www.eightforums.com/threads/power-options-add-or-remove-usb-selective-suspend.51294/
My USB issues have been very rare as I stopped using a dock and extra peripherals, but I'll reply back in a day or two if they're completely gone.
