Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.  

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

    I return right at 30 days. However, I have talked with someone in sales and they have informed me that exception can be made under the right circumstances. I would assume product that fails to meet basic needs of ANY computer should do it. 

    Or

    A class action.

    I have the same keyboard disconnect issues. I saw in this thread that a CPU load stops the USB lag/drop. I can confirm that having a constant CPU load stops my lag/drop issue too. Rather than install another app, I wrote this little powershell one liner, and it works. I set the sleep in there to stop the CPU temp rocketing up. If it still lags for you, decrease the sleep time

    while ($true) {$i = 1+1;sleep(0.4)}

    Note that you must use the inbuilt keyboard, or the touch screen keyboard to enter your password, and open powershell and execute this one-liner, as the USB keyboard is not going to behave until this is running. If you want, you could add this as a scheduled job to start with windows, or your own login, to bypass this issue.

    I hope MS fixes this soon. If the next patch does not fix this, my SB3 will be returned for full refund (my third SB3 return since November... This will be the last.

    I had a situation today where one of my FTDI USB devices would work foe a few seconds and then stop.  I replaced the device and still the problem persisted.  I restarted the SB3 and all working.

    I wish the SB3 was stable.
