Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

A fix for this issue is now available through Windows Update. Please review the Surface Book 3 Update History page.

I have just bought this very expensive laptop and this issue is really causing me a problem. I can't write more than a paragraph before having to delete a load of incomplete words or a string of repeated letters. Mouse pauses every 20-30 seconds for a moment or two. Really disruptive. I might as well have spilled my coffee all over the keyboard.

I have an SB3 32GB i7 1TB connected to a surface dock 1, with 2 external monitors (usually run with the SB3 screen open as a 3rd screen. with no USB devices connected except for a logitech bluetooth receiver (for the external keyboard and mouse connected directly to the SB3. I also nearly always use bluetooth headphones due to living on Teams now. I do suspect the problem is less severe when the bluetooth headphones are switched off but haven't definitively proved that yet as its an intermittent problem. But even so, its an essential for me and not an unreasonable request to be able to type whilst on a call.

Annoyingly, it all worked completely fine with an SB1 with the same peripherals. Disappointing. Please fix this urgently!

    Similar issues to the above.

    My setup is

    SB3 i7 32GB Ram

    Docking station

External 4k monitor using usb c connection

    Surface wireless keyboard

    Surface mouse

Couple of USB drives plugged into base (not dock) for backups etc.

    Problem

    1. Main issue is that screen will just freeze (waiting doesn't fix) so that i can't type, use mouse etc.  This can happen 15-30 times a working day!
    2. Stutter when typing in some applications

    Research

I use Chrome and opening a new window almost always triggers issues.  In outlook opening an email also causes issues on occasion.

Temp workaround and trying to minimise issues.

    1. Pull the power connector out of the base and thus disconnect the dock.  This resets the 4K monitor.  Plug-in connector, wait for 10 secs for 4K to load back up and then spend another 20 seconds rearranging windows and carry on working until next time!
    2. Avoid opening new windows in Chrome (or any new windows for anything else) so using reading panes in outlook and new tabs in chrome.

This really needs to be resolved.  Hope Microsoft can do the right thing and provide fix/information on this.  A quick "we're onto it" would help too.

Just in case it matters,  I have the exact same issues as Davids video.  But I have that issue even without a dock.  I do sometimes connect to a dock (not microsoft) to allow for multi monitors & ethernet but even when im not connected I have the freezing curser. I do use a usb mouse. but i am pretty sure it happened to me even without the mouse plugged in when i was testing it out. I have re-imaged my sb3 with a new image that I downloaded and put on a flash drive (as was suggested to me via this forum).. and still the same issues.

Its horrible because I had my sb3 for over 3 months and now its too late to return.  and im stuck with a very expensive unreliable laptop.  I waited so long because i assumed it was a driver issue.. now i read all of this and i feel sick to my stomach because I know I got screwed.  and didnt expect it from microsoft.
