Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

David

A fix for this issue is now available through Windows Update. Please review the Surface Book 3 Update History page.

If it is a new laptop I would return it as Microsoft have not fixed the issue.  Check back here to see if it is fixed then reorder if still want SB3.

Or move to Bluetooth keyboard and mouse as 'short term' workaround,

    David

    Hi David (an others)

Please don't list Bluetooth as an option and workaround! It's NOT!

A customer of mine has spent 60.000$ on brand new Surface Book 3. I will not ask them to spend another 3.500$ on buying Bluetooth mouse and keyboards for all their SB3s replacing their fine USBs. Also we invested a lot of time running these devices up with Autopilot, Intune and Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses. We are sending 10.000$ a year in Microsoft direction - this need to be fixed, period!
