Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.  

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

    Today I had several instances where my keyboard glitched out either not registering key presses or getting stuck on a key press. This is while using the handheld scientific BT-500 adapter. I have to say that bluetooth may be more reliable but still isn't a "fix". I really don't want to sell this to someone given how broken the surface book 3 is but I can't keep doing this. I need to get rid of this thing. I'm completely done trying to justify a $2000 computer not having capable usb ports. It's unacceptable!

    I haven't seen this problem so far and I am hammering the Dock and it's USB ports - External FullHD touchscreen, 4K screen, Ethernet, 2 USB-serial, 2 USB Gigabit and other USB devices.  Only Dock connected to SB3.

    Of course the Internal Intel Bluetooth is a USB device so that suggests to me that USB comms are working ok meaning the problem lies in the USB HID handler but that's just a wild guess.

    That said, I need USB Keyboard and mouse not Bluetooth for the work I do.

    Ok I see what you guys are doing. 

    So I did something like this. I disabled my internal BT and purchased a Bluetooth RECIEVER and my problem was nearly solved. It also allowed me to continue using the Mouse and Keyboard through a normal USB dongle and only produced the error from time to time. I told the MS people about my workaround and they forwarded it to the engineers... they replied with "have you tried updating your device?" I loved the device but as I was over 3000 into it, I will have to insist that it work with Bluetooth and a single USB keyboard.

    The BT K/M does appear to work but I want to get back to my usual setup and so am awaiting delivery of the BT-500.  What I need is a dock with a simple connector so I can work in my office or elsewhere.  The Surface is perfect in this regard.

    If MS cannot resolve this issue I will demand a replacement.
