Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have an SB3 13 i7 32Gb.

I also have intermitiant issues with USB devices. (Keyboars ans mouse).

I switched to a Bluetooth mouse and its perfect.

I also have similar logs in the events.

My biggest issue, however, is overheating CPU.

And when the temps are high, it seems to make the USB issues worse. (I dont think i encounter USB issues in battery power).

on battery, my CPU is running at 75degreees C

When its charging though, it jumps up to 100deg C very soon after, even on lowest performance mode.

Does anyone have this USB issues combined with overheating?

Your guess is probably right. Maybe an old comment in this thread explains. Btw, my keyboard is still ok.

This is a known issue with wireless mouse/keyboards. The issue you are experiencing is almost certainly interference with the adjacent USB 3.0 port.

I have a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. I did some searches on the Logitech site and it documents the issue as common with all USB 3.0 ports (not specificall the Surface Book 3).  The recommended action was to move the mouse to a different USB socket - ideally on the opposite side of the laptop.

Of course that isn't an option on the Surface Book 3 as the two USB ports are side by side on on the same side of the laptop. The other option suggested is to use a USB extender cable on the dongle. Tried that with an immediate resolution.

So then I tried a number of other things to see what was the best solution for me. I removed the USB 3.0 devices in the second socket and my keyboard typing improved back to normal.  As I have a USB C docking station I rearranged my connections so that the mouse/keyboard dongle was separate from the USB 3.0 devices and that worked too.  

Finally I returned the dongle back to the laptop and only connected USB 2 devices to the other USB 3.0 socket and that worked too.

This isn't a Surface Book 3 problem other than it's layout of the USB ports.

So the same thing started happening to me with an external keyboard and mouse (no surface dock). I bought a new usb hub, that didnt work. I bought a new keyboard and mouse, that didnt work. I tried windows updates and driver updates, those didnt work. 

I did try a new thing today though. My new mouse can be used via bluetooth or USB so I chose bluetooth not USB, and so far today (the last 3 hours) no weird typing issues. My usb hub has two printers and my keyboard (logitech) attached to it. So I'm wondering if adding the mouse to it made it too hard for the usb port to fuction? 

I'm not computer savvy, so I don't know if that makes any sense, but I'm going to keep using it and report back as to whether or not this is a work around.

I move my surface book 3 to be far away from my dock. It has been being ok for 10 mins already. I will keep you guys posted.
