Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Dear Microsoft-Team,

Dear Community,

I recently got the brand-new Surface Dock 2 for my home office. I try connecting it with my Surface Pro 7 and a Samsung C34J791 (LC34J791WTUXEN) monitor with the supplies USB-C cable from Samsung which came with the monitor.

Windows is recognising the monitor fine, it shows up in the screen settings.

But the display is not showing any images, it just keeps switching through the inputs to find a proper signal and after some time the monitor goes into sleep mode as it could not find a signal.

If I now connect the display to the Surface Pro 7 directly with the same cable it works just fine and I can see the desktop on the Samsung monitor.

What do you suggest?

    Same problem with my C34J79 Monitor. Works fine when I connect the monitor directly to the DP/USB-C on my Surface Book 3. However If I go via the Surface Dock 2, it doesn't work.

    Very incredibly broken and annoying that this hasn't been fixed in over a year!

    Buy the DP 1.2 cables. I've found that the DP 1.4 cables do not work with the Surface Docks. Something like this worked for me: StarTech.com 6ft USB C to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable 4K HDR/HBR2 - Reversible - CDP2DP2MBD - Monitor Accessories - CDW.com

    Hi, all,

    I didn't have this exact issue but some similar issues. (My setup: SP7 i7 with a Surface Dock 2 and 2x USB-C to DisplayPort to two Dell monitors.) So I want to let you know what helped for me. Right now I have zero issues - no flickering, no sleep issues, no one monitor failing, etc.

    1. One is that MS replaced my Surface Dock 2 for free. This fixed one set of issues. (Thank you MS for being so flexible!)

    1. I realized that exactly how my display cables were winding their way between the dock and the monitors matters. Specifically, interference from being too close to power cables caused issues. Once I rerouted my cables through the arms of my two-monitor VESA stand - thus isolating them from the power cables and whatnot - all problems were eliminated. I do not know if this would have fixed all the original issues with the original Surface Dock 2 I had replaced.

    Another thing occurred to me: This may explain why some people are seeing improvements when they use different (usually more expensive) cables. Perhaps some cables are better shielded than others.

    Just my two cents - hope this helps someone.

    I just purchased the Surface Doc 2 today for my Surface Laptop 3, purchased 2 monitors as well, Samsung Monitors.

    Very excited to have both monitors running however the same issue as everyone on this thread.

    I can get the monitors to work every time if I disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cables from the back, what a joke.

    We buy something to make our lives easier and this is what happens.

    From reading all the posts I can see the only solution is to have a monitor that has USB-C output and to run USB-C to USB-C, however the two Samsung Monitors I purchased only have HDMI lol.

    I will be taking this Surface Doc 2 back for a refund tomorrow and getting the following Anker USB-C Hub which has dual 4k HDMI, for a third of the price.

    Microsoft I would like to buy more of your products, however after this experience and everyone else's experience on here why would we? BILL GATES , SATYA NADELLA whoever is in charge around here ,sort your S$%t out because you just wasted all of our time.

    I had the same problem for months and after several attempts at different cables the right cable was found (for me)

    I used Surface Book 3

    2 displys: Dell U2412M

    I went and purchased the MS HDMI / USB C adapter and guess what, the MS Dock now works.  But there is no way this should be like this...

    Buy an adapter to get your dock to work.   Lame.
