Surface Dock 2 Display Problem

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem reported by Swiss Julian; same configuration (Surface Dock2, Surface pro 7) but with a DELLU2715H monitor.

The USB-C/HDMI connection works if connected directly on my surface pro 7, but no signal when connected to the Surface Dock2.

I hope that the appropriate team at Microsoft are working to fix this issue and I want to remark that we aren't talking about a secondary problem that occurs for a particular configuration or mode of use. We are talking about making two of the newest Microsoft devices work.

I want to point out also that Swiss Julian had spent a lot of his time and without receiving real support. Alone he found a solution that is not practicable in any case as it requires an additional expense (double in the case of two monitors).

Microsoft fix this issue.  The surface dock 2, does not work with USB C to HDMI. I have the issue. All the others in this thread have this issue.

I am really sorry, but it seems that you have the „older“ Surface Dock and talk about this one, that also works really great for me...

The issue above described just is related to the recently released Surface Dock 2 (with the USB-C ports on the front).

The firmware update procedure is different, the issue (at least in my case) could only be fixed by buying an expensive Active USB-C to HDMI adapter... Native USB-C connection with a monitor still doesn‘t work from the Dock 2 and Microsoft did not give any helpful assistance nor released a proper firmware solution until now...

I indeed forgot to mention that I also tried both USB-C ports on the Surface Dock 2 and both ports on the monitor as well, in each possible combination 👍

I also tried to update the display drivers with the latest version from Intel‘s homepage, and I also tried it with the drivers for the monitor.

BTW, as the dock arrived this morning, it showed up no update in Windows update.

I hope you can now isolte the problem even further and provide a solution quickly, as I would love to use my big monitor with the Surface Pro 7 in my homeoffice.

Thanks for noting that the monitor works fine when directly connected to the Surface Pro 7 using the same USB-C cable that came with the monitor. That helps us isolate the issue here. If I may ask, did you try all USB-C ports on the Surface Dock 2 to test which would work? Also, please ensure that either of the 2 ports in the back are the ones you plug in your cable. Kindly try plugging in the cable to either of the 2 USB-C ports located at the back of the monitor as well. See which of them will work with the USB-C display ports as shown below.
