Recently, after an update, when using Google maps, the names of the locations disappear.
Initially the maps shows all the detail
But few seconds later when everything is loaded, the town names disappear:
I thought this was a Chrome issue, thus cleared the cache etc. but this not fixed the issue.
I then tried different browsers MS Edge and Firefox. They all have the same issue.
I contacted Google and provided the above info, but they believe this is o/s issue and suggested I contact MS.
Is anyone able suggest how I can fixed this problem?

I-M-A, that's interesting, you said "My problem started after an update, and I am also in Europe. I am normally not based here." I'm from US, visiting Portugal now. Maybe just a coincidence, but I wonder if being on a foreign network might have anything to do with it?

My problem started after an update, and I am also in Europe. I am normally not based here.
It can't be chrome issue as the problem exists in all web browsers, Edge and Firefox.
It's either an (Google map) app issue or and O/S issue.
I have a three Surface Pro's, two have normal Intel based O/S, they don't exhibit this issue. The Surface Pro, which is ARM based has the issue. This to me points at the O/S but I don't have enough technical knowledge.
I don't want to roll-back, as the ARM base O/S is really problematic, I have had lots of issues with updates, to the extent I have to re-build the device from scratch.
Also I think it's an issues when Google maps synch's with your account, i.e. the information obtained from your account is overwriting the map location details.
I first noticed this happening about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I'm in Europe now, so I thought it might have something to do with being on a foreign network, since maps would occasionally display in the local language, requiring me to switch back to English in settings. Also, this happens in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Sometimes it works fine, other times not, so definitely strange behavior.

I have three Surface devices, one being Surface Pro X with ARM based processor. I have had problem after problem. The ARM based OS needs a lot of work to make it usable!
I contacted MS support on this issue, they were great but could not resolve the issue, it appears to be related to synchronization with your Google maps account. They referred me back to Google. Hence two giants palming the issue to one another.
I've been able to replicate this myself with both Edge and Firefox on my Pro X. It IS weird!
I have to admit I find it a bit unlikely to be Microsoft's problem in-spite of what Google says (sounds like a bit of a canned response to me). But I could easily be mistaken. I don't think it's an issue with the ARM processor per say, otherwise ARM-based Macs and Chromebooks would have this same issue. It might be something specific to either the Surface (drivers?) or Windows on this device. And maybe that's point Google support was trying to make. I didn't notice when this broke on mine, so I'm curious which update you installed after which this issue started? Is it something you can roll back or uninstall to see if that fixes it?
Still, it IS a Google site/service that runs in a browser, which should make it platform agnostic. Especially when you were having the issue using Chrome itself - it seems Google maps in a Google browser not working is Google's issue. And maybe that's the point Microsoft support is trying to make.
Note I saw the issue without logging into a Google account, so I'm not sure it's a sync issue.
My Pro X isn't under support anymore or I'd trying contacting support myself. But I think you can safely say it isn't just your device having this issue.
Yes, it's a shame, because I really like the tablet format with win 11 and removable keyboard. Too bad not many other companies make it.
