Surface Pro X, Issues with Google Maps

I am using:

Device name *******

Processor Microsoft SQ1 @ 3.0 GHz 3.00 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.54 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

Recently, after an update, when using Google maps, the names of the locations disappear.

Initially the maps shows all the detail

But few seconds later when everything is loaded, the town names disappear:

I thought this was a Chrome issue, thus cleared the cache etc. but this not fixed the issue.

I then tried different browsers MS Edge and Firefox. They all have the same issue.

I contacted Google and provided the above info, but they believe this is o/s issue and suggested I contact MS.

Is anyone able suggest how I can fixed this problem?

    Same problem here, Surface Pro X with SQ2, 16GB RAM and it's been nearly a year with the same issue.... :(

    My so-called "remedy" was only temporary. It worked fine until I shut down my PC and then restarted it only to find the same issue again. I think there is a software glitch with MS Graphic Divers (Microsoft SQ2 Adreno 690GPM), Intel, etc. I've reached out to MS back in June. They took over my PC and recorded the anomaly but nothing to date. Perhaps the MS folks are still scratching their heads on this one.

    I'm using Firefox with BING Maps and so it's the next best thing.

    I think I have found a remedy for the disappearing place names on Google Maps and the MS Surface Pro Windows 11. I have a link to my OneDrive file in MS Word format.

    I'm using a monitor, i.e., "Display 2" in the instructions. Ultimately, you are removing a current display driver. It reads "If the device fails after updating the drivers, roll back to a previously installed driver".

    Once I rolled back the current display driver, the screen went black for 2 seconds and came back. I immediately tested Google Maps and the street and place names remained in place without disappearing. My conclusion is that the current MS updates might have updated a graphics driver that had some conflict with other instruction sets.

    If you find that this "fix" doesn't work for you, it won't be difficult to restore your previous setting. I certainly hope the "remedy" works for you since I know how frustrating having a Google Map without any place or street names on it.

    Thanks - very appreciative of people looking in to this. However, I'm on a Surface Pro X laptop and tried this, and it didn't work. The strange thing is that the street names appear and then disappear after half a second and don't return. So I know they are there!

    Thanks for the tip however Map Quest has pop up ads and top and bottom border ads that consume about 35% of the screen's image. Remember "Ask Mr. Jeeves? Or AOL for email? We've come a long way since then and Google Maps, despite its shortcomings, is still the most robust mapping service currently, when it's on a platform other than Microsoft's Surface Pro.

    Further, I'll bet that Surface Pro and Google maps work very well in Europe, Asia and So. America, but not in the USA. Enter the lawyers!

    I still have not heard hide nor hair of Microsoft Customer Service on this issue.

    Yeah, it's not pretty. So far turning hardware acceleration off has worked for me. I've used Bing for maps and Chrome for all else. I'm liking my Surface Pro X.
