Surface Go uefi version is 1.0.34 and No Bootable Device error

Recently receiving "No Bootable Device" error on Surface go running UEFI 1.0.34.

I've tried all the recovery disk options without success.

Have also noticed a few reddit threads with similar issues with this version in the last week or so

Anyone else seen this and managed to recover their device?

I have lodged multiple support tickets, confirmed there is no way for a user to roll back this firmware update.

I have also lodged a complaint here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoftfeedback

Edit: 11/7 - After 5-6 weeks I've finally been able to send it back and it's been a fee-free replacement. It has been a lot of back and forth and mentioning this thread with so many other instances of it.

Still waiting for someone to lodge this as a firmware issue.....and remove that version of the firmware from Microsoft site.

I've also had success today through Microsoft support chat to get my machine replaced. Follow the instructions and you should get the same experience!

Anyone here based in Singapore and facing the above issue too? Did you manage to get it resolved?

My Surface Go is no longer under warranty. I filled up the online support form and was led to this page that quoted me SGD 352.89 for a 'standard exchange' :(

After some 6 weeks and 4 separate attempts I am pleased to report that today I have been successful with MS Support. This was achieved through the Surface Go support chat service. They didn't even ask me for the photo of the UEFI screen. They acknowledged in black and white that the firmware update was their error and so they are replacing devices free of charge, outside of my warranty.

I feel sympathetic for anyone else that is still struggling so I will share what I can in case this will help you.

Firstly I made sure I was on the MS Surface Go support - you can check this by looking at the URL. This is the page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-go  scroll down the page and click on Contact Us. I put in my issue as "Surface Go bricked after 1.0.34 update". I also did something different this time to the other tickerts - I selected "Hardware issue" on the drop down rather than "Technical support".

As others have reported here, it does seem they a have process in place now:

    1. They acknowledge the firmware caused devices to break
    2. They offer a free replacement and ask if you want to proceed with that
    3. They escalate the issue to the Hardware Team - and I think this may be the key point - Hardware not Tech Support
    4. Ask for your address etc
    5. Process it
    6. Tell you you will receive a confirmation email with the return label within 24 hours to send back your machine with.
    7. Once they receive the broken device they will ship you a replacement.

The agent was very helpful, and apologetic and he said he had seen my previous unanswered emails and support tickets. So it seems that they either have finally got a solution is place and or they respond to you being persistent.

Here is the screenshot of the chat that I hope will help and encourage everyone else who is still trying to get a replacement.

SUCCESS WITH MICROSOFT ! ! ! Well, after many "happy" hours of attempting repairs to my Surface, I finally found the post by MaSD# posted on 5th August, and contacted Micorosoft, following the routine to the letter.

Today, a ( seemingly ) new Surface arrived fro mMicrosoft. I haven't tested it yet to see which is the firmware version, or even if it's actually working.

Although the problem shouldn't have been pushed on us by Microsoft, I have to give them credit for their service once they got their butts into action.

From dropping off at a carrier outlet to receiving it back this mornig - 5 days ! Fantastic service.

So, good luck with all you fellow sufferers, wherever you are, in returning your devices. If you follow exactly the routine posted above, I'm sure you'll be successful.
