Surface Go uefi version is 1.0.34 and No Bootable Device error

Recently receiving "No Bootable Device" error on Surface go running UEFI 1.0.34.

I've tried all the recovery disk options without success.

Have also noticed a few reddit threads with similar issues with this version in the last week or so

Anyone else seen this and managed to recover their device?

I have lodged multiple support tickets, confirmed there is no way for a user to roll back this firmware update.

Edit: 11/7 - After 5-6 weeks I've finally been able to send it back and it's been a fee-free replacement. It has been a lot of back and forth and mentioning this thread with so many other instances of it.

Still waiting for someone to lodge this as a firmware issue.....and remove that version of the firmware from Microsoft site.

    It seems, that Microsoft is also replacing my bricked GO.

    The fun part is that I run 4 of these in the company. Only one is bricked so far, the other 3 are actually running on UEFI 1.0.34 and are working so far. Will these stay working or am I sitting on 3 ticking time bombs?

    I just got my replacement today, thank you Microsoft.

    As for the 64GB SK Hynix hC8aP eMMC it may very well be just a bad batch of chips that doesn't affect all of them.

    Below is my replacement Surface Go about to get 1.0.32.0 huh? Did they roll back 1.0.34.0?

    Update: 1.0.34.0 did eventually get installed. All is well on this Surface Go for now. Just doing a clean update to see what happens.

    Do a search for Windows to Go. I haven't tried it, but others have mentioned being able to run Windows from a USB on their bricked Surface Go. At least until you're in a position to get it replaced. So sorry this happened to you.

    Windows will run, it's slow but functional. Ubuntu works too and is faster on a Flash drive.

    Hi all,

    I have exactly the same issue, I contacted microsoft that is willing to change my tablet, but i would loose all my data on it...
    Any idea how i could extract them ? If I do it in a private repair store (which would extract my hard drive i guess) , I won't be covered by microsoft waranty anymore (infraction of general terms and condition).
    Am I doomed to loose them if I want to get back my surface go ? They are responsible of this bug, I should not pay for their errors ?

    That is terrible! This is turning out to be a nightmare for a lot of people worldwide. There was a commenter in Ukraine who had no means of returning his device…Many people including myself that work abroad would have to incur the cost of shipping the item back to Microsoft outside of the US. The problem twofold, the 1. The firmware and 2. the widespread effects. Neither of which Microsoft is handling properly because they don’t want to admit liability. I smell a class action lawsuit…
