Iexperienced this problem this morning on my Surface Pro 2.  After being connected at a coffee shop, shutting down and rebooting at work I tried to connect to the wireless connection at work and am also getting the "no connection available".  I get the same network icon and red X.

When I troubleshoot I get "The Marvell AVASTAR Wireless Composite Device adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems"

Any help greatly appreciated.

    I had the same issue.

    • I was using a Surface Pro 2.
    • After the March 2015 set of Windows Update patches, the driver continued to be present for the Marvell device, but it could not detect any wireless access points.
    • I had previously been able to detect access points before.
    • This was not just for one location but for all locations, and was no locations whatsoever.
    • The March 2015 Windows Updates, after being applied, noted that I needed to Re-Activate Windows and Re-Activate Office.
    • I rolled back to the previous System Restore point, but that did not fix the wireless issues, only the activation.
    • I called Microsoft technical support, who, after walking me through re-applying the drivers, enabling/disabling, asked me to do a System Refresh (which is where you delete all the programs, but keep your data). This did not fix it.
    • I then had the device replaced (still under warranty).
    • Before I sent the old device back to Microsoft, I opted to do a System Restore, which is where you completely wipe the device clean of programs AND data).
    • After performing a System Restore, the wireless adapter started working again.
    • As I only had a limited time to get the old device back to Microsoft, I just sent it back and kept the new one.

You may want to backup all your content, data, and programs on OneDrive, and then doing a System Restore.

    Good luck.

    Hi Ritasmart,

Thank you for the reply. Could you give us more details? Are you using a Surface Pro 2 or other Surface devices? Are you not able to connect to wifi everywhere or only in some location? Do you see a limited connection or no connection at all? Have you ever been able to connect to wifi on this device?

Please reply back and let us know.

    Kind regards,

    Clare
