Iexperienced this problem this morning on my Surface Pro 2.  After being connected at a coffee shop, shutting down and rebooting at work I tried to connect to the wireless connection at work and am also getting the "no connection available".  I get the same network icon and red X.

When I troubleshoot I get "The Marvell AVASTAR Wireless Composite Device adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems"

Any help greatly appreciated.

I think I am experiencing the same symptoms. I bought a Surface Pro 2 256GB less than a week ago.

I updated to Windows Pro 8.1 and my system is currently up-to-date with all available updates (except the Bing stuff.)

Now the weird thing is, *every other reboot*, the Marvell network adapter would disappear from Device Manager.

One boot the wifi would work just fine. Then, I would reboot my Surface, then the network adapter disappears.

So I reboot again, but this time the network adapter is now present under devices!!

I have been able to recreate this issue consistently.

I spent the entire week configuring my Surface to just exactly how I want it, installed a few programs, and now I find out about this hardware issue? Is there a fix for this? I will be heading back to the Microsoft Store and get a replacement Surface Pro 2. I'm hoping only this unit is defective, because if it's more widespread, I have no choice but to get a refund completely.

I love this device more than all of my tablets and my laptops (except my Mid 2013 Mac Air!)

    Microsoft, gimme a fix!!!

    Greetings Tom,

When did this issue start to occur? When the issue occurs, if you go to Device Manager from Control Panel, does anything show up under Network Adapters or Unknown Devices?

After checking Device Manager, see if you can toggle Airplane Mode on, then back off and see if it makes a difference please.

I look forward to hearing from you.
