Iexperienced this problem this morning on my Surface Pro 2.  After being connected at a coffee shop, shutting down and rebooting at work I tried to connect to the wireless connection at work and am also getting the "no connection available".  I get the same network icon and red X.

When I troubleshoot I get "The Marvell AVASTAR Wireless Composite Device adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems"

Any help greatly appreciated.

    Same problem here. What happened today:

    I was normally working with my SP 2 (all updates installed) when I realized the network connection was no longer there. I found that the Marvel Avastar was no longer listed under device manager. After I had shut down the SP 2 it did not want to boot up afterwards. So I pressed both the Volume Up and Power button to force a boot. Some kind of menu appeared where I chose exit. Then it started normally and WiFi was running again. I also found that the SP 2 was trying to install the hardware update from July again afterwards. When I checked the list of installed updates I found that the exact update had already been installed several times succesfully. It's great fun to see MS asking users to exchange and refresh their devices when this issue has been around for so long already and should actually resolved by them and not by us.

    I am using a Surface Pro 2 and recently bought the docking station. Everything seemed fine for the first few days. Now, every morning when I start using my Surface Pro 2 the network card has disappeared. When I click the Networks link nothing is listed. I have to hard reboot (hold down the button for 5+ seconds) in order to get back to working order. I thought it was the docking station, so last night I tried the same thing while un-docked. I got the same result: in the morning there was no network card. I've seen a couple other posts about this and they always say upgrade to 8.1. Problem is, I'm already on 8.1. Anyone have any ideas? This is very frustrating.

    :: Tom
