Repeated Daily Crashes of Desktop Window Manager in Reliability Monitor When Using Pen

Funny, I was doing something and got a blue screen shortly after posting that and my Surface did the first two updates during the restart. Used the pen and had the issue again.

I know these updates occurred a few days back as well:

Surface - Extension - 2.9.139.0

Intel Corporation - Extension - 27.20.100.8681

Will report back later today after doing the optional KB5001567 I mentioned above. 

Edit: Problem still persists after the optional KB5001567 I mentioned.

Hello, Thanks for mentioning the updates! Yes, there were a few updates a few days ago concerning Surface and Intel Corp extension. I am also downloading the optional update.

I had the screen freeze on me 4 times yesterday and once this morning.

Would Microsoft be aware of this issue?

I'm not sure if this is 100% effective, but it appears having my surface connected to power when I touch my screen for the first time with my pen prevents the DWM/heatcore.dll crash. Hoping it works for others! I'll update in a week.

In the morning, I don't  connect my power to the laptop, and even after touching the screen  for the first time with my pen without power connected, I still get the black screen and desktop manager stopped working on my reliability monitor.Let me know what happens !

Yes, when I read RJ81's reply, I just tried it (my Surface is connected to power), and it did crash, so that was probably just by chance and doesn't really fix it.

I've even tried to find one of the previous Surface recovery images but when I put my serial number into  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-recovery-image it shows a 20H1 and a 1903 recovery image but both links are identical and appear to be the 20H1 image. Apparently going back is not an option unless I can find a generic Windows image and apply the Surface Driver pack.
