Mouse freeze on surface book 2 after the most recent firmware UEFI version 389.2268.769.0 update!!! especially when power adapter plugged in

There is a big issue in the recent firmware/driver update pushed to the surface book 2. The usb mouse became not really usable. There is a frequent lag/freeze happened to the mouse. Such issue was not there before the firmware update.

The mouse I tried including Logitech G703, G402, microsoft wireless mouse, etc.

Many people have discussed this now but not solution is provided and the problem cannot be solved now:

A further test can now confirm that the issue is either in the UEFI version 389.2268.769.0 or the system aggregator version 728.128.137.0.

After updated these two modules to those versions, the issue start to appear. This has been confirmed on more than one surface book 2 devices.

The previous version of the UEFI starting from 388 and aggregator version 728.77.137.0 do not have such issue. I can see at the moment, the 389 version of UEFI is not pushed anymore and the firmware/driver pack downloaded from Microsoft has the 388 version now.

But for those surface book 2 which has already got the 389 version pushed cannot revert back to the 388 version. Please fix this asap.

The touch pad on my physical Surface Book 2 started freezing about a month ago. I can't scroll or anything. If I am reading a website I have to continue using the down arrow. Gotta love spending $2.5k on a top-of-the-line computer that is junk both hardware and software -wise.

    Hi Microsoft!

Looks like your users have done the hard work for you and identified the firmware revision you broke this in.

Just release a '390' firmware that is just the '388' firmware again so people can effectively 'downgrade'. Then you can work on fixing the actual problem and release a '391' firmware with a fix.

My £2500+ laptop is currently unusable with a mouse plugged in.

i can confirm the mouse freeze too with a cable Logitech Mouse.

Resetting the Surface Book is NOT an option, as it is used in Production.

I have this exact same problem running on the same firmware. Tested with multiple wired mice including Razer Elite and an old Microsoft Optical 1.1. Happens less often on the Microsoft mouse but definitely still occurs. best performance mode is almost unusable in terms of mouse disconnect/reconnecting. Better performance helps but still isn't good.

This is no doubt an issue with the Surface Book 2 as there are no issues with the mice with an XPS 15 and same version of Windows and almost identical image.

    • I completely reset SB2 (but as mentioned above that doesn't mess with the firmware)
    • I reconfigured all the power setting under device manager to make sure the laptop would not turn off the device to save power.
    • I changed a registry setting to allow advanced setting under advanced power options and made sure USB selective suspend setting was disabled
    • I reconfigured/reinstalled drivers for the mice as well usb hubs
    • ran the surface diagnostics - no issues found
    • Problem is noticeably worse when under heavy stress and power is maxing out

We need a firmware rollback option ASAP.
