Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?

Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

    Is there a solution for this does anyone know? I have had a SB2 for 18months its so frustrating, you charge fully use it do a full shut down and when you come to use again in a few days its dead. Its even worse if you set to sleep. This is a laptop its meant to be used turned off and to be available days later its also a premium laptop. I have used the SB utility tool but its made no difference. 

    A really poor situation and I could never recommend this device to anyone. Real shame as in all other areas its fine. But a laptop that drains when off??? thats just ridiculous. Any update on this?

    No, there’s no update. Ive been asking since I bought the SB2. It’s just the “design” of a flawed product. Microsoft will pretend like it’s the first they’ve heard of it if you ask them. They’ll offer “solutions” like “make sure you’re switching it off properly” then ignore you after a while. 

    A shame really as it would be a decent laptop otherwise. But I will never buy another Microsoft product again.

    Same problem

    My second SB2 received as a replacement for the first one has exactly the same problem.

    No explanation from Microsoft.

    I used to have a very good image of Microsoft, but it is deteriorating more and more. I am extremely disappointed with Microsoft's total lack of consideration for its customers. They simply ignore the problems.

    I am thinking of permanently abandoning Microsoft products, including Windows if I can.

    in fact this is a known issue to microsoft years ago. I remember MS somehow officially said it wont be fixed.

    Even though I love SB and surface in general, I advise to stay away from Surface series before this ridiculous design flaw gets patched.

    If Microsoft actually knew about this issue years ago and did nothing to prevent / correct it over time, that would be an appalling behaviour on their part.

    Currently, I cannot recommend a Surface Book device, and if a friend or acquaintance asked me about buying one, I would try to steer them away from it.

    Sorry, but this is not a feature (fast startup, or whatever): it is a serious design flaw.
