Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?

Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

I have the same problem. I got a warranty replacement and that process took so long that I bought a different laptop. This was my first non-MBP in a decade and I wanted to love it so badly. After 3 weeks of back-and-forth with Microsoft I had to buy a replacement laptop, and I went back to what I knew.

So when this one finally got to me, I turned it on to check that it worked and then turned it off with a full charge. It has sat for a couple weeks and I recently turned it on take pictures to sell it and it was completely dead. 0% | 0%.

I will never in my life purchase another Surface Book product.

This doesn't really surprise me but just to confirm, you shut it down from the start menu not the power button which depending on your settings might have just put it to sleep. Sleep in Windows 10 uses a lot of power.

Yeah, always from the Start menu.

You might want to cycle the batteries a couple times to see if that helps even if it seems unlikely.

These batteries came with 51 and 80 cycles on them respectively.

I'm selling it with a couple months warranty left on it so it'll be someone else's problem now.

This battery drain while off problem has been a problem for me since Surface book 1 and now Surface book 2.  It is also a huge problem with my Surface Pro 6 and was a problem on my old Surface Pro 4 and 5.

I am convinced that this is a hardware design defect that MS cant fix with software.  None of our Dells exhibit this peculiar and annoying battery drain problem.
