Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?

Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

    Hi, is the light in the charging cable lighting when connected to the laptop?

    If it doesn't try connecting to tablet.

    If light on charging cable is not lit up after connecting, probably you charger is the problem while sb2 battery is completely drained.

    yes. the light on the charger is on and bright... I don't think there is a problem with the block. I can't connect to the tablet because it doesn't detach now since it's literally dead... If battery is completely drained, is there a way to jumpstart it?

    Hi! 

    I'm new here, I don't even now how I've got to this thread, actually I was searching for a different problem. But I've read somewhere, if all of the Books are affected. I was curious, so I tried it myself. I can say mine is working fine. I've unplugged it today in the morning around 8, turned it off, and around 21 turned it back on. It was on 100 percent. So maybe not all are affected. I have the 15" Book2 maxed out version, currently for dGPU trouble I'm running the Windows built 1809. 

    I know this doens't heping you guys, just so you know not all are affected.

    I have this issue too. The realtek usb driver for the card reader is draining power in standby. I fixed this by doing those steps: (the english terms might not be fitting 100%, my windows has a different language)

    • Find Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader in device manager
    • Right click on it and select "update driver"
    • Select "Search on my computer"
    • Choose "Select from a list of available drivers on my computer"
    • Select "USB-mass storage device" instead of "Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader"
    • click on "Continue"

    If you do this the icon in the explorer for the SD card changes to the standard icon windows uses for drives. This is also a good indicator if the driver was changed by windows automatically. This happens from time to time especially on major spring or fall updates.

    So far I didn't notice any problems with the default USB mass storage device driver. But the power drain in standby is gone and I can keep my SD card attached at all times.
