Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?

Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

The sleep battery drain is from the modern standby feature. You can read about it on the links shared for me. The shutdown drain is from the hybrid shutdown and sometimes for a problem with the integrity of the drivers. You must install the drivers downloaded from the link shared for me. I have just finished installing the five .msi files from the link (oddly, the fifth one warned me that a more recent version was already installed).

I've turned off the Surface with the shift + shutdown command. I will turn it on tomorrow, and post the results.

No, you should not install all the files in the link. As I mentioned in one of my answers, you should only download and install the file that corresponds to the version of Windows 10 that you have installed. If you installed all the files, I'm afraid you worsened the integrity of the drivers as each file is specific to each version of Windows 10. Please uninstall all the driver packages you installed and try to download only the one that matches the version of compilation you have. You can see the version by running winver from the start menu.

Thank you for the clarification: the download instructions weren't even half as clear as your post. I will uninstall and reinstall only the correct driver.

Thank you again for your help: it's very much appreciated.

Please, if my answers helped you solve the problem, mark them as a solution so that all who go through the same can find a solution. I am seeing that there are a lot of people who have been concerned about battery drain for almost 5 years and never found a solution. I hope my answers help you.

I have 1909. Does that mean I need to just install the 18362 driver package? Just confirming. Thanks for your help with this!
