Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

I have had a Surface Book 2 for 9 months now. It drains 5-10% battery whilst switched off every day. I know this is a common complaint, yet why is it an issue on a $4000AUD laptop?

Can I return it for a refund as it does not meet my needs?

Same here. This is my second Surface Book as well: I recently returned the first one because it had a defective display (discoloured lines on the screen), in addition to the battery drain issue. I received the substitute Surface two weeks ago, but the battery drain remains. I even tried the detachment workaround suggested by user thloh85, but to no avail: the drain is still there, just less severe (4-5% instead of 9-10% on a daily basis).

I must say that I am very disappointed. I would never have bought such a costly device if I had known about this in advance.

Same issue on a brand new Surface book 2. When I purchased the unit it was completely dead. On have had the unit for 3 days and every morning i turn it on and approximately 9% of the battery life is depleted while completely shut down. I charge it back to 100% and same thing in 12 hours powered off 5 to 6% of the battery is depleted. This is my second Surface Book. I purchase a Surface book 1 about three years ago and It had the same issue. I returned it after Microsoft had no solution. Looks like this one is going back and ill never purchase another Surface because they will never fix this issue. Looks like Microsoft does not care to resolve this problem even after years of these defective devices. Looks like ill go back to Apple at least there battery hold a charge while they are turned off.

    So to update everyone...

I've still got this problem and have had no help from anyone at Microsoft. Why?

Same thing here w/ battery drain to 45% after shutdown and tablet disconnected from the base keyboard.  This has been happening to me w/ the SP4, SP5, SP6, SB1 and now SB2.  Why can't any of the surface product shutdown correctly?

Battery report shows NOTHING as in no activity and yet my batteries (tablet and keyboard) continue to lose power when completely off / shutdown.

    Please advise!

I have the same problem as well. It drains 5-8% every day in shutdown (not hibernate or sleep). But if I undock the keyboard from the clipboard, then there is no drain any more. Could the moderator forward this to the engineering team to look into? I suspect there might be some firmware issue when keyboard is connected.

    Thank you very much!
