I'm having a similar issue, I have a new Samsung 46H7000 and I can get Play-to to work but that isn't much use as not many apps support it, when trying to add a new monitor for Project-to the TV and SP3 just time out. Project-To works OK on my Nokia 930.

I've tried updating the TV, SP3, deleting wifi profiles etc. not sure if we need to wait for an update for windows or the TV.

It's impossible to say why the SP3 has issues connecting to a Miracast device

while other Surface devices can connect just fine. Samsung does not appear to

have officially Miracast certified their TV's so no one knows if they adhere to

the standard. In my experience, the Netgear PTV3000 dongle works with everything

I've thrown at it.

I'm glad to have found this thread as I've been having the same exact issues as XLsiorMedia - trying to get my SP3 to connect to my Samsung TV (UN60H6350AFXZA). I run into the same issues with the TV & SP3 trying to connect but eventually timing out.

Funny thing is, I just reset my SP3 not too long ago and had I known this issue existed, I would have tested screen mirroring BEFORE re-installing all updates, specifically the latest 9/9/14 update.

Oh well, looks like this is a dead-end for now. I might look into getting a netgear PTV3000, but I’m not excited about adding another device to my tv. I already have a chromecast to handle mirroring certain iOS apps (Netflix and HBO Go) + web page video streams (via the chrome browser extension) and this pretty much satisfies my needs. The only thing left to do was mirror the SP3, wirelessly, so I was very excited to see/hear screen mirroring was possible. Honestly, this isn’t super important as I’d probably wouldn’t use a 60” tv as a second monitor, but it would be nice to stream/mirror Xbox video, games, photo, and other apps from the SP3 to the tv – again wirelessly, as I know this can be done hardwire via HDMI (mini-display port to HDMI adapter).
