Surface Pro 3 does not connect to recent Samsung Series 7 TV

Hi,

my Surface Pro 1 does connect well with my Samsung Smart TV series 7. However, my new Samsung Pro 3 wont connect. It finds the TV and then tries to establish connection and asks to wait - maybe the TV should not popup a PIN code - but that never happens and the connection times out. Interestingly the Surface Pro 3 gets listed in the Samsung network device settings and is set to "allowed" for connection but the Surface Pro 3 still wont connect. Note i have deployed all latest updates on Samsung TV as well as Surface Pro 3.

I would appreciate to get this working again.

    Hi All,

    A firmware update for the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter was released last week that might resolve many of the connection issues presented here.  For tips on installing the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app see here.  The app is needed to install the adapter firmware update.

    Note, you will need locate a substitute display as a connection to an external display is needed to successfully complete the adapter update.

    Didn't make a difference.  Tried lowering res - still can't get the SP3 to mirror directly to the Samsung. Works just fine to the Microsoft adapter. 

    Samsung support was useless.  Also tried wired connection, no luck getting it connected with two different TV's and multiple SP3's.

    If you are connecting directly to the Samsung TV using Miracast, the fix for the MWDA isn't going to help <G> That fix is for people using the MWDA who could not make a stable connection.

    I figured, but wasn't sure if the driver was related. 

    Only issues we've had with the MWDA is noise/artifacts in the display.  It's be nice to get rid of that problem, but it only occasionally does that.

    Hi All,

    I appreciate you all taking the time to share your experiences and suggested solutions.  It was mentioned earlier in this thread but I want to bring it back into the conversation...  Surface devices are built to the Miracast standards as outlined by the IEEE committee.  Please check your display/TV manufacturer's website for wireless compatibility with your display/TV.

    And why does then the original Surface Pro work with my two Samsung TVs? Just the 3 Pro doesnt. Different graphics chipset/drivers?
