Surface Pro 3 does not connect to recent Samsung Series 7 TV

Microsoft tells us " Buy our Microsoft Miracast Adapter ".

That is their idea of a solution --- sell more merchandise.

My SPI sends the start screen to my Sony UHD tv in Mirror mode and then the screen goes black.

The tv and the SPI both recognize each other and the tv is sitting there in mirror mode apparently waiting for a signal which was, apparently, cut off  by the Surface Pro because they don't want us to just be able to mirror to our tv's without BUYING their adapter.

It is obvious the SPI is fully capable of mirroring to the tv without an adapter or the start screen would never appear on the tv at all.

I doubt Sony has the tv programmed to cut off the signal because that would cost them sales if word got out that they were stopping miracasting. There is no upside for Sony to do that.

But there IS an upside for Microsoft to stop / change the signal coming from the SP --- they sell more adapters because it won't work unless you get their adapter which fixes the signal so the Sony can see it again.

Two quick comments Arizona...

1. I am not sure you are 100% right on Microsoft not suffering a loss from mirrorcast not working on the SP3. If I would have known about the issue with mirrorcast not working from SP3 to my Samsung TV, I would at least have considered buying a different laptop. However, in support of your suspicion, Microsoft does use the SP3 as the prime example on their "Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter" page. (see bellow image from their page)
2. I just bought one after reading your post :) 

I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, the adapter is no solution at all. The main reason I want to connect wirelessly is so that I don't have to switch inputs.

Does the adapter work as expected - flawless and without issues?

I'm totally agree with you XLsiorMedia. Main purpose about buying this laptop is to have everything connected in the house wirelessly. "Buy our Microsoft Miracast Adapter" is not a solution.

Besides, we spent big money in this laptop and we deserve a proper solution. It's been already a few months since this issue was opened, so Microsoft guys, move your **** and solve the problem (please)!!!!

I am quite pessimistic that MS will ever solve the problem. For example, the notorious external display flicker problem has been raised for over half a year, and there is still zero response from MS. Also, the disabled wireless AP function on SP3 has not been restored, and still no words form MS if they will ever enable the function.

Given the SP4 will be out in a few months, I guess if these issues were not fixed before the debut of SP4, they will never be fixed.
