Hi,
my Surface Pro 1 does connect well with my Samsung Smart TV series 7. However, my new Samsung Pro 3 wont connect. It finds the TV and then tries to establish connection and asks to wait - maybe the TV should not popup a PIN code - but that never happens and the connection times out. Interestingly the Surface Pro 3 gets listed in the Samsung network device settings and is set to "allowed" for connection but the Surface Pro 3 still wont connect. Note i have deployed all latest updates on Samsung TV as well as Surface Pro 3.
I would appreciate to get this working again.

GOOD NEWS: There is a solution after all.
You only have to turn the resolution down the first time in order to make the connection. After that initial handshake is made, you can just project as expected while your SP3 is set to its normal maximum resolution.
I have my Samsung Series 7 UHD TV connected wirelessly as we speak. It's only at 1920x1080, but that's fine.
Strange, but good news. 1980 x 1080 is what I'd expect though.

Changing the resolution works. The link isn't specifically referring to mirroring but it's why I tried changing the resolution. Somewhere else I read that it's the responsibility of the device, not the TV, to negotiate the connection. Perhaps the Surface Pro 3 isn't following the Miracast protocol. That would be a bummer, I was hoping I purchased state of the art.
Interesting. That page is actually specifically for connecting using a 15 pin VGA adapter. And it is interesting that 1024x768 works. Miracast is badly broken in the SP3. customers are upset and SHOULD be upset. Microsoft did NOT submit the SP3 for Miracast certification. So with two uncertified devices, it's an adventure, to say the least.

Responding to Barb so everyone else will hopefully see this.
On the Samsung site, it's spelled out that Mirroring may not work if the screen resolution is not 1024x768. It doesn't exactly word it that way but if you change the Surface Pro 3 screen resolution to 1024x768 and then try to mirror, you will be pleasantly surprised. Didn't test DLNA connection but wouldn't work at 2160x1440.
What Microsoft should do is update the Video software to remember that screen 2, in this case the mirror, needs to be 1024x768. It's not, it's trying to project 2160x1440.
I hope this helps some, it solved it for me. But what a pain to have to make the resolution change!
Miracast is supposed to negotiate the resolution. Can you please provide a link to this statement on the Samsung site?
