Surface Go - Zoom Meetings

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Surface Go for work purposes. 

I am wanting to use Zoom Meetings however when I try start/ join a meeting the computer wants me to run it through an application. When I search for an application, nothing comes up.

I have tried downloading "Teams" to then link with my Zoom account, and run Zoom through this application.

I have managed to link the account, however when I try start/ join a meeting, the same request comes up, asking me to run Zoom through another application.

Does anyone have any experience with using Zoom on a Surface Go at all? Is it doable?

Thank you for your response.

It seems that there is no Zoom app available in the Microsoft Store app and I don't think you can use Microsoft Teams as the app to run for Zoom meetings. You may consider using the Zoom web client which works with the new Microsoft Edge and doesn't require switching out of S mode or if you need more advanced features you may need to switch out of S mode for you to install and run the Zoom app on your Surface Go if necessary.

Microsoft - how quickly can you arrange for the ZOOM Cloud Meetings app to be available from the Microsoft Store. Zoom is essential, but I also do not want to leave S Mode. 

This is up to the app developer (Zoom), not Microsoft. Zoom has to create a
compatible app and get it certified by the Store.

    I'm like you that I want to keep my laptop, Surface Go, in S Mode.  If you keep in S Mode, you cannot install Chrome, however, the new MS internet browser, "New" Edge, is Chrome based and can run Zoom meetings in browser.  Oddly New Edge is not installed through the MS Store but can be downloaded and installed directly from Microsoft.

    Go to microsoft.com and search for Edge or here is the direct link:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

    Even though you are in S Mode you can click on the download button to install the New Edge.

    You can attend Zoom meetings using New Edge.  When you join a Zoom meeting you have to enter the meeting info and push the join button in the Edge browser window.  Zoom will try to launch the meeting, when it does you need to click on the "join from your browser", it is in small blue print/text towards bottom of Zoom launching window.  Do not click on the "download & run Zoom" text as it will not work/install for S Mode.

    Hope this makes sense.  Hopefully Zoom is working on a Windows app that can be installed through MS Store.

    Hi Oscar_068,

    I am using a laptop with pre-installed Windows 10 Home in S mode and I need to install the Zoom Cloud meeting app but unfortunately it is not available in the Microsoft store. 

    I have read that if i have to use zoom cloud in Chrome, i have to opt out of the S mode and if i do, the process is irreversible.  I do not want to opt out of the S mode.  I am not really a "tech savvy"  person and I would really appreciate it if you can walk me through on how to install the zoom cloud application and make it work on my laptop.

    You can use Zoom web client with the new Edge on Surface Go in S Mode.  New Edge is Chrome based and so far I'm liking it.  You have to download and install from Microsoft.

    I had to attend a Zoom meeting today on my Surface Go and it worked fine.  Odd that the new Edge is not downloaded from the Microsoft Store, but if you search for it in the store it takes you to the Microsoft site to download (link I pasted above).  And it does install on the Go in S Mode outside of the store.

    One downside with the web client is that I could not turn on, or figure out how to turn on, gallery mode.

    Forgot to add, starting a meeting in web is a couple step/click process.

    When you join a Zoom meeting from the web using Edge you have to click the "join from your browser" link when you try to join a meeting.  Not that intuitive or obvious.
