Anyone having issues powering on their Surface Book 2?

I am having issues the past couple weeks powering on my Surface Book 2 via the power button. It does not respond unless I eject the tablet half from the base and then press the power button. No setting or software changes except the Surface firmware update for Meltdown/Spectre a couple weeks ago. I'd say 1 out of every 5 attempts of me powering on results in a hard reboot and losing everything I had open. This is extremely frustrating! PS. I typically hibernate my PC. Would be great to hear from others that have applied the latest firmware and hibernate, if possible.

    Hi Timothy,

If your Surface still gets stuck in hibernation after performing the steps suggested by Mark Ole, we recommend that you run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. The SDT resolves common Surface problems and the diagnosis usually takes 15 minutes or less, but can take an hour or longer depending on your internet connection speed and the repairs that the tool needs to do to fix the problems.

Click here to run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

We hope this helps, and keep us updated on this thread.

    Regards.

I know of several folks with the same SB2 config as me who have been having the same problems since the firmware update. The surface diagnostic toolkit does not resolve. I am betting it is the firmware update. It is getting very old that Microsoft's response to every issue with the SB2 is run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, go to a store, swap hardware. Does anyone on the Surface team investigate issues or do any level of troubleshooting? I was going around in a circle with a rep that wanted me to uninstall the firmware update via Windows which is NOT possible. I guess everyone warned me to stay away from Microsoft hardware... about to make the switch back to Lenovo whose products I've never had a serious issue with and they investigate/troubleshoot when there is an issue.

    Hi,

If the SDT didn't detect any errors and most of the SB2 users who are having this issue had the problem after the update, there's a high possibility that the power button issue is due to a bug with the recent update. We understand the importance of being able to boot up your Surface coming from hibernation, and we want this problem resolved more than anything else.

We encourage you to submit your issue using the Feedback Hub. When you submit a feedback item, we gather additional details and information about the issue which will help us to determine what's causing it and address it. Feedback items regularly receive Microsoft responses on the submissions in the Feedback app, so you can see what we're doing about the feedback. You can visit the feedback frequently to see the status of the item.

In order to submit new feedback, please follow these steps:

    1. On your Surface, search for "Feedback Hub" in Cortana search, then launch the app.
    2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press + Add new feedback.
    3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory.

4 Important: If possible, reproduce the problem after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you're done.

    1. Once you've completed the form and monitoring, click Submit.
    2. Click Continue using Feedback Hub.
    3. Click My feedback at the top, then find the item you submitted (it may take a while to appear).
    4. Open the item you submitted, then click Share.
    5. Click Copy link, then paste the link here in your response (it will look like https://aka.ms/<unique lik>)

If you have any additional concerns, please don't hesitate to post back here.

    Regards.

This looks like its only for Windows 10 feedback? Where can one submit feedback regarding the Microsoft Surface Book 2 hardware? I did submit: https://aka.ms/Bdbnai

There are multiple threads on this on reddit and other forums. For example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/80fjqj/surface\_book\_2\_not\_consistently\_turning\_on\_with/

Does Microsoft want to address this or not?
