Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

    Just have my Surface Pro 7 for a week and suddenly it becomes hot very quickly, even when no power attached and then it shuts down and I have to wait at least half an hour before it is cooled down. Is this also a known problem?

    I have just purchased my first surface pro 7 and I am having the same issue. I just downloaded MSI Afterburner to monitor my temperatures. When the surface is unplugged the CPU temperatures have steadily decreased to a range of 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade. As soon as I plug in the factory provided charging cable the CPU temperatures jump immediately by 30 degrees Centigrade and continue to rise up to a max of 84 degrees Centigrade so far. That is far to high of a temperature change for just charging the device while not in use. Also while the device is in sleep mode the fans do not turn on to cool the device. I am on version 1903 of windows 10. In the included picture I have the CPU temperature at a steady 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade for more than a minute. the spike in the temperature to a high of 84 and as the graph show at 76 degrees Centigrade. The second picture show the temperature immediately drop to 52 degrees from a peak of 88 degrees Centigrade after being unplugged and then it stabilizes at 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade.

    hello i bought a new surface pro 7 8th gen i5 126 gb and i cant even get the freaking thing to turn on long enough to get through the dang setup stuff it keeps telling me its over heated when i try to turn it on and when i do get the stupid thing to run itll make it through 5 min of setup and turn off then say its over heated when its not even warm to the touch

    I'm Running Surface Pro 7 - USB-C hub that connects external monitor. i dont really have an issue with temp. however maybe run Task Manager to see if anything in particular is running high?

    When you run it and dont see anything too weird, try loking at "more Details" section at the bottom left of that screen and going to "Startup" and see if anything is enabled that shouldnt be. that might help keep it down. lastly i assume you arent using cases with the tablets?
