I have the same problem, all posible fixes already applied and no way of getting better... Eventually my last Microsoft device, what is a pity as like it a lot.

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

I had an overheating issue when charging via USB-C since I purchased the Surface 7 PRO in December. The back of it would get above 50 centigrade every time and then take ages to cool down. I was not much bothered with it as was not using it excessively. Now, in June 2021, I had some issues with adding my daughter account to the Surface and after fighting with account recovery etc. I decided to reinstall the windows. So I did the recovery, told it to download a new version from the Internet and.... it no longer heats up as much as before. I can still feel the heat but it's at 34 centigrade. So far so good.
Can anyone confirm similar behaviour?

I also monitored the CPU temps, which are technically safe in the 60C - 70C range, but the back of the device becomes incredibly hot and uncomfortable to use. I was concerned with the long term effects of this excessive heat so I ultimately returned mine.
