Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

    After disabling CPU Turbo Boost (Surface Pro 7, i5) in Power mode, not a single random shutdown or blue screen occurred.

    It seems that these problems are directly related to the CPU and Intel Turbo mode. It seems to be a heat problem of the CPU that causes the crashes. Could be a design flaw.

    I’m having the same issue. I left it plugged in last night and when i got up it was extremely hot. I unplugged it and it cooled down but now it won’t turn on. The keyboard lights up but the screen won’t turn on. What do i need to do to get the screen to turn on?

    Hi All,

    If this is still active, it is actually the charger causing this issue. The part that plugs into the computer, if not fully straight, will cause the computer to get crazy hot while charging. This seems to be a design flaw. I'm not talking about the port itself, rather the cable going into the hard plastic part. If it isn't in the right position, your computer will take forever to charge AND get crazy hot. I had to buy several off-brand chargers as a remedy.

    Replacing the charger, full brick and cable, will not fix the issue. It is a design flaw because of how the cable bends going into the charging port. SO let's hope this gets infront of the right people to make a difference.

    Dear Marion,

    I face same issues. 5-10 minutes after starting a Zoom\Skype\Team meeting Surface pro 7 get extremely hot which makes it work very slow.

    5-10 minutes after closing Zoom\Skype\Team app the Surface will slowly cool down and get working normally again.

    The suggested steps you mention didn't make any difference.

    Replacing my charger didn't help either.

    Talking to a Microsoft helpdesk didn't help either.

    To be honest:

    This is so frustrating and it makes me tell people to avoid purchasing Surface.

    Hopefully it can be solved somehow...
