Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

    Same issue to report.  It feels random. Sometimes when I charge over night (with the original charger) when I wake up in the morning the unit is extremely hot AND it has not fully charged, it is at 76% or so. It was charging for 7 hours. It should not be at 76%. As soon as I take it off the charger, it begins cooling and is fine.

    Also, latest updates installed. Default battery settings.

    I have an update.

    I never used cortana or activated it.

    After disabling it from starting up and rebooting, this issue is now gone (for a week so far).

    It would appear this is related to cortana doing something in the background when plugged into power.

    I am also experiencing the similar issues with my SP 7 (i5, 256 gb) while charging and even it gets extremely hot when streaming youtube videos. Also, sometimes when I turn on, Microsoft logo screen stays for ever, then I need to do hard restart to get it turn on. I have confirmed my windows is up to date...

    Is anyone else facing an issue where your surface pro 7 randomly throttles down to 0.4 GHZ??

    This has been happening extremely frequently to me. Plugged in and on battery. Sometimes the device is almost burning hot, sometimes it's ice-cold!

    Yes had this many times. This typically happens when it overheats as a protection mechanism.

    For me this happened when one of the cores reached 80°C or the GPU gets too hot.
