After i got to thinking i was running version 1903 and windows has an update to 1909. I performed the update and restarted the computer. Since i have done this i have not had any overheating issues.

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

When you run it and dont see anything too weird, try loking at "more Details" section at the bottom left of that screen and going to "Startup" and see if anything is enabled that shouldnt be. that might help keep it down. lastly i assume you arent using cases with the tablets?
Well I would if I could get past all the setup when you initially turn it on but I cant even get past that so idk what to do and my first post I had a typo It has a 10th gen i5

2020-04-04T16:30:54+00:00 hello i bought a new surface pro 7 8th gen i5 126 gb and i cant even get the freaking thing to turn on long enough to get through the dang setup stuff it keeps telling me its over heated when i try to turn it on and when i do get the stupid thing to run itll make it through 5 min of setup and turn off then say its over heated when its not even warm to the touch
