Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

    After disabling CPU Turbo Boost (Surface Pro 7, i5) in Power mode, not a single random shutdown or blue screen occurred.

    It seems that these problems are directly related to the CPU and Intel Turbo mode. It seems to be a heat problem of the CPU that causes the crashes. Could be a design flaw.

    I have this same problem   I bought my microsoft surface  pro 7 model 1866 i5 in February 2020

    it gets so hot I have to shut down my work and power off the device because it feels unsafe

    I attempted to return it and was told they get this way and to call microsoft.   

    It may well be designed to "The magnesium body of the Surface is designed to absorb heat and cool down quickly"    but it doesn't feel safe.

    I was trying this out because I like using microsoft office products over google docs and sheets and didn't really want another lap top  also our office is looking to replace our apple tablets.   

    Unfortunately if this heat is a huge issue as we all feel it is too hot to the touch and feels unsafe physically and to our data.   

    I tried all the suggestions above and have turned off several of the programs that were the reason I purchased this.. yet it still gets really hot after about 8-10 minutes of use. 

    I am going to try down loading the thermometer ap recommended in a different posting on this.   

    any other advice or success in keeping these from over heating would be appreciated.

    I purchased my Surface Pro 7 a week ago and have been experiencing the same issue. Plugging my Surface in to charge results in it quickly becoming hotter than it was even when no apps are open.

    I loved my Surface Pro 4 so when it died I made the switch to the Surface Pro 7. However, this heating issue has me very concerned.

    Mine has been doing it since launch day. 

    Currently been on the charger sleeping for 5 hours, 54% charged.

    Just have my Surface Pro 7 for a week and suddenly it becomes hot very quickly, even when no power attached and then it shuts down and I have to wait at least half an hour before it is cooled down. Is this also a known problem?
