Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

I'm actually experiencing a similar problem, so I just wanted to chime in.

When I plug in my Surface Pro 7 i5 after it has been on battery for hours, it gets SUPER hot and it stays some crazy big number like 2 hours to full charge even from like 30 percent. I can verify there are no especially demanding processes going on, but it just starts getting super hot and charging very slowly.

A few times the charging even froze completely, with it getting so hot, it was using power at the same rate it was losing it so the battery percentage was not increasing at all for almost 30 minutes. 

It doesn't ALWAYS do this, but it does this very OFTEN and it's very annoying because sometimes it charges super fast and other times it literally takes hours and hours to achieve a complete charge.

Now, I do find that restarting the device seems to fix things, so I'm almost certain that there is some sort of software glitch that is causing this to occur. 

I love this device so much but this overheating charging issue is really annoying.

I have just purchased my first surface pro 7 and I am having the same issue. I just downloaded MSI Afterburner to monitor my temperatures. When the surface is unplugged the CPU temperatures have steadily decreased to a range of 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade. As soon as I plug in the factory provided charging cable the CPU temperatures jump immediately by 30 degrees Centigrade and continue to rise up to a max of 84 degrees Centigrade so far. That is far to high of a temperature change for just charging the device while not in use. Also while the device is in sleep mode the fans do not turn on to cool the device. I am on version 1903 of windows 10. In the included picture I have the CPU temperature at a steady 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade for more than a minute. the spike in the temperature to a high of 84 and as the graph show at 76 degrees Centigrade. The second picture show the temperature immediately drop to 52 degrees from a peak of 88 degrees Centigrade after being unplugged and then it stabilizes at 41 to 43 degrees Centigrade.

I'm having the same problem. This is my second day using my Surface Pro 7 and it is so annoying. I upgraded from a Surface Pro 6 and I'm very disappointed.

My surface pro 7 is also overheating when charging to the point of shutting down and not cooling off for an hour. Additionally, it randomly shuts off it the middle of use with no overheating... was so excited when 3 got my surface 3.5 months ago, now just disappointed...

Love my purchase so far, but I have to agree with this. I use my SP7 to stream and after two hours of use it gets ridiculously hot. I can physically unplug the charger and it literally drops my CPU usage instantly as well with starting to cool down. It's very weird. Has this been officially taken note of yet?
