Surface dock 2 not connecting to monitors using usb-c cables

Yes, and it seems Microsoft is incapable of accepting a MAJOR bug in this devise. They actually sent me three of these to see if one would work. None did.

I am upset with the fact that our entire platform is Microsoft and yet they seem incapable of addressing the issue, admitting they have a problem and making a real effort to fix it.

As a shareholder this is something I will raise.

I simply unplugged my dock both at the dock and at the brick power supply.  I let it sit for about a minute and then reconnected it.   That did the trick for me.

I have noticed you need to have the dock connected with the wire pointing towards the track pad.  On the old dock this did not matter.  I don't know what's up with this issue but surface to surface doc 2 connection  is directional for monitor support.  direction does not matter for any other usb connections.

I cannot believe this cured my issue - the connector lights up either direction however and all seemed well until I purchased a USB-A keyboard/mouse and used the (2) USB-A connections on the dock; both would work for a few seconds and then just stop or not work on bootup.  I'd also been receiving random pop-ups indicating "a device" may not be receiving enough power - none of the devices connected to the USB-C ports require power.

Note:  the additional dual monitors never had an issue connected to the USB-C ports, and even when the USB-A keyboard was connected directly to the Surface Laptop 3 notebook it would not function when the power connector cord was not pointed toward the trackpad.  As the dock connector appears to work either direction I am a little stunned that it matters with the Surface Dock 2 and did not with the original Surface Dock.

I just spent over an hour with Windows updates, driver updates, etc. for such a simple fix.  Microsoft, if you see this, please key the dock connector in some way that it is easy to tell when it is plugged in backwards.  Having it partially functional makes troubleshooting extremely difficult!

As Surface partner we are in close contact with the distributor and they told us to try the Suface connectors (USB-C>HDMI2) but that does not change a thing. I noticed that when this happens I need to power off the monitor and unplug the power cord of the dock. Wait for 20 seconds and reconnect everything. Then it starts working, but it is very enoying. Everything connected so everything is not available. Audio, cam, conferencing..

I'm out of ideas. I think we need a firmware update or more hardware to keep testing. I wonder what would happen with different monitors. Really disappointed with the Dock2. I won't be selling that until this is fixed.

I have the exact same issue connecting my two Dell monitors to the Surface Dock 2. Also tried everything that I could find on the subject.

The strange thing is that when I disconnect the first one, the second starts working. If I plug the first one back into the dock, the first one gets preference and the second one will stop working again.

1. Clearing cache made me reset the settings over and over again, but did not resolve the issue.
2. I first tried it with usb-c to DisplayPort, and I'm now using usb-c to HDMI, but still out of luck.
3. I actually have 2x 24 inch Dell with two different resolutions, because one is actually a touchscreen so I also tried to lower the resolution to match the touchscreen, but that also did not help.
4. The frequency of both monitors are set to 60 hz.

Any ideas?
