Can anyone confirm if 22h2 fixes the issue on their computer? I am JUST testing this out now on my Surface Laptop 4.
Surface Laptop 4 + dock - Mouse & keyboard lag / freeze
Hi,
This issue has been plaguing the Surface products - and I'm "glad" to report that the Laptop 4 is also suffering from it.
The problem: When I connect USB peripherals (especially gaming mice and keyboards) to the Surface Dock, they lag and/or hang every X time.
The same issue has been reported for the Surface Book 2 and Laptop 3. I own the latter and I've experienced this issue on that device personally. It has been fixed since, so I'm kind of disappointed to see the same issue on the Laptop 4 now.
To make matters worse, I've also experienced this issue with a Logitech MX Keys keyboard (not a gaming device). Every few minutes, sometimes more often, a key haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaangs <- and causes stuff like that.
As I understand, the high report rate of gaming devices causes the Dock to disconnect-then-reconnect the usb devices every so often. Another cause I've read about was recent Windows versions powering down USB ports or something like that.
I can confirm that the same Dock (v1, in this case) with a Laptop 3 does not suffer from this issue. It's just the Laptop 4.
The only way to work around it is to connect the device via bluetooth (not always an option as many gaming devices do not have BT) or plug the USB in the laptop (not the Dock). This works for one device, but unfortunately I'm one of those guys who insist on using both a keyboard and a mouse :))
I would really appreciate a fix for this issue. Thanks!

2022-11-28T22:52:10+00:00 Looks like Windows 11 - 22H2 has solved the issue on my computer.
Can anyone confirm if that is true for Windows 10 - 22H2? -

2022-11-28T23:19:37+00:00 I'm sorry - what makes you say it was "solved"? You're just not experiencing it anymore? Can you link your claim about it being "solved" to some evidence? I am frustrated by the lack of acknowledgement in this issue and the runaround that people give when trying to address it (e.g. install windows update, reinstall your operating system, etc etc)

2022-11-29T19:54:15+00:00 Day 1 of using my work Surface Laptop 4, external keyboard does the freezing character issue. I replace the external keyboard thinking that was the issue, I was incorrect.
Also, mouse cursor is freezing on the screen randomly. Some days it is frequent. Other days there is the odd freeze. Further testing involved using just the built-in keyboard and mouse trackpad for an entire day without anything else connected, freezing was still occurring.
Found out other company users are having the same issue on the Surface Laptop 4 and the Surface Pro 8 also. Continue testing. Try changing a registry setting for CPU throttle, did not work as freezing is still happening.
Testing at home without a dock, using a Razor wireless mouse w/ dongle, and a Dell wired keyboard. Rate of freezing intensifies on the mouse. Keyboard is still very random but is happening.
So a Microsoft Support ticket was opened and we are working directly with them. My computer has been the #1 testing device for this issue.
Tried Windows 11 - 21H2, freezing is still happening. Reimage back to Windows 21H2, the moment I am back in Windows, keyboard and mouse start freezing.
Upgraded my PC to Windows 11 - 22H2 and the freezing is gone. There has been zero occurrence of the keyboard keys freezing or the mouse cursor freezing.
If going 1 week straight on the new OS with zero freezing does not count as a solution, then I don't know what else to say.
What evidence can I provide? Want me to record my 8 hour shift each day and post that for everyone to watch? I have been looking for and applying registry, power setting, driver, Windows Update, etc... fixes for my machine with no luck. I don't know what stops the issue in this OS.Just try going to 22H2 and see if the problem goes away for you as well.
