Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

THX! :)

I read somewhere that this issue may be due to the SSD not turning off when device is shutdown. May explain why some users don’t experience this issue as there are different brands of SSD used in SP4.

In any case, i still think this is a hardware issue rather than software. That is why MS doesn’t want to fix it because it will cost them a lot of money. If it was a software issue, I think they would have fixed it by now.

I just switched to a similarly sized Dell notebook that has additional advantages, like the ability to increase RAM. $699 at Best Buy. Bye-Bye, Microsoft.

I had the same exact issue, the battery was draining even after I shutdown my surface pro 6. What I realized was that it was happening because I changed the power setting and made it so the laptop never sleeps either on power or on battery. Where I think is a bug that even after shutdown it behaves as if the machine is in sleep mode and it never stops the machine. So try resetting everything in power settings and keep lower time limits for sleep etc.

In the past 2 years, it has not yet resolved.  I bough the surface pro 4 with this issue. I wasted a lot of money.
