Hello Tim923347 and LoriEvans1,
Thank you for reaching out Surface Community. We sincerely apologize for the misinformation by Lloyd. This is not a known issue for Surface Pro 4 Devices. There are several reasons why this is happening. It could be that there are pending updates on your Surface that were not installed. It could be that the drivers on your Surface are not updated that is why it won't work properly.
Please follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Check for updates
- From Device Manager, expand the Batteries category. Double-tap or double-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, select the Driver tab, and select Uninstall > OK. Restart once done.
- To
make sure you got the latest drivers and firmware, please go to Download drivers and firmware for Surface and download the .msi file then restart.
- If there's not an .msi file that corresponds to the build of Windows 10 you have installed, select the .msi file that's closest to your build number.
- To find out which version and build of Windows you're using, select Start > Settings > System > About , then look under Windows Specifications to find your operating system version and OS build number. Tell us the Version and OS Build of your Surface Device in this thread as well.
- Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Performing a Forced Shutdown is like removing the battery from a laptop or unplugging a desktop PC. It resets the hardware and clears all the cache and memory for your hardware.
- Turn it back on and check the battery percentage or charge the device first until it gets 100% before shutting it down properly. We'll be asking a battery report via email after the observation in few days.
Please keep us posted.
Thanks,
Karen
