Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

THX! :)

Barb Bowman's 2/26/1 8 post explains this.  Short version:

    English: "Shutdown/Hibernate"

    Translated to,...

Microsoft: "Still running but but unresponsive to user."

I understand -- I will use my Surface 4 until it dies, and then I will never buy another Microsoft computer product. I am very disappointed in Microsoft, and will find another brand device that has a small size like the Surface. Does Microsoft even care that they are alienating customers?

I've been down that route. Nothing fixes it. I've heard, Unofficially it's down to a patch that is not comparable with certain components in some surface 4's. As the patch is for security Ms won't roll it back.

My surface has been consigned to recycle and I now have a Dell xps 13. I couldn't keep turning up to work with a dead surface.

I advise clients not to buy a surface as for the cost, it simply doesn't have the longevity and Microsoft won't support you as a customer.

I also have the same problem. I have disabled connected standby, shutdown the computer for 5 days and the battery dropped from 100% to 60%. I have a Surface Pro 4 that has a battery cycle of only 57.

I am trying to disable fast startup and see what will happen.

Left it off over the weekend, the battery dropped from 47% to 0%. Checking app battery usage showed me that the Windows Explorer app has drained over 30% of the battery while my surface pro 4 was turned off. already unticked the box " Let windows decide when this app can run in the background" and " allow the app to run background tasks" but the app still ran in the background.
