Battery Drains While Shutdown

I am just starting to have this problem as well. It is very frustrating. I didn't realize that this is an ongoing problem. When I inquired, they will replace the device (the whole surface) for 450! Okay, compared to what it cost, that's great. But, this is a problem that seems to happen right out of warranty... 

I think they need to replace the charger or the batteries for FREE - it seems to me that this should fall under the "recall" law of cars... 

Is this just another way that the tech giants are not being regulated and so they don't care...

I need to make some phone calls about this... I've barley used this computer until the last year regardless of the time that I've actually owned it...

Not good on this one , Microsoft.

For a long while now I have not been able to use my Surface Pro 4 as a portable device for which it was designed and sold. Specifically, the device batteries do not retain charge over a reasonable period of time. I was told "This is an issue with the Surface Pro 4 that will be addressed in a future update." by Loyd_G above but as yet no such fix has been forthcoming.

I have pursued this matter through MS support channels but have not had a satisfactory resolution. I wonder, do I really have to resort to pursuing MS through consumer rights channels to get support with this? I hope not. 

Please, can I have this problem resolved?

Where did you purchase your original SP4? If from Microsoft, the Microsoft Store

should have your purchase history under your profile, order history. If not from

Microsoft, can't you contact the seller and get the needed documentation?

In my mind, Surface Pro is on valid to use it for 3 years.

My 1st Surface pro 4 was facing flicking screen before Microsoft recall it.

the device only 1Year 13days, but Microsoft reject my case, need me to pay for replacement. So i make a report to NCCC...in the end, Microsoft accept my FOC replacement.(I cover under commercial warranty 3 years)

After a few month i used my replacement unit, the device is getting hot(my old device flicking after a few days of hot) so i submited a replacement( Microsoft start recall for screen flicking).

And now a new replacement unit i used for 5 months the battery can only used 2 hours with fully charging and power saving mode. So i just request for replacement, but i notice my 3 years warranty was gone(end July 2019).

and now Microsoft give me this reason.

We would like to inform as per request from escalation team. If the Prove of Purchase are not able provided we afraid they not able to transfer the warranty to the device right now.

***As per check with previous replacement device and Microsoft Policy, extended warranty only can have for commercial device only.***As you are using device under consumer user, they need a Prove of Purchase as prove the original device have a extended warranty.

In conclusion all my Surface Device only can last for 1 year or less than.

You may notice that when you turn off the Surface Pro 4, the battery charge lasts for only a week or so, whereas previously it would last weeks when the device was turned off. 

Thank you for your feedback and the great information. We understand the concern and were currently look into this issue. Please continue to check for Surface and Windows Updates to make sure that your device has the most current firmware and software available. This is an issue with the Surface Pro 4 that will be addressed in a future update.
