Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

THX! :)

I think people have the idea/ vision of a SP4 all wrong and Microsoft didn't do themselves any favours by completely screwing up the advertising. They advertised the Surface range as a top of the line portable computer/ tablet???

    What the hell...

It's a premium drinks tray ... what is wrong with the sales team?

Real head turner at my dinner parties.

I feel like the Microsoft responses are not forthright here.

My experience with my own Surface Pro 4 is that there is a significant drop in power if not using and charging computer every day, eg while travelling,.when in "Shutdown mode".

So when one actually needs the computer, caught out because a quarter  or more of the battery has discharged. If this is not a problem, why are there so many people inquiring after this issue.

Clearly "Shutdown" is NOT shutdown in the traditional sense.

There should be an option within the shutdown menu to complete a full shutdown.

An alternative solution is as follows:

Press Windows key & R key. Then type "shutdown /s" in the box and press enter.

Appears to be effective. Takes significantly longer to start up, but power seems to have been retained..

Tried many times in the past but it doesn't solve the issue in my Pro 4

I have made an experiment: I have removed all saved wi-fi and after I have shutdown my SP4. The battery drain when off is passed from 15% per day to "only" 6%....

    :-O

    okay.

but the question for my case is:

before Aug 2019 when I shut down my SP4 there are no battery drain when off . Also for long period.

after Aug 2019 (firmware upgrade) my SP4 lost 15% per day when is off.

I know that some problem is aging batteries but this problem can affetct battery when on... reporting bad percentage... ecc! when the device is OFF it must be OFF!

I've an old IPAD2; the battery is ok after 8 years and when is OFF the IPAD is OFF!!
