I just switched to a similarly sized Dell notebook that has additional advantages, like the ability to increase RAM. $699 at Best Buy. Bye-Bye, Microsoft.
Battery Drains While Shutdown
I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.
I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.
Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.
I have all MS updates but the problem continues.
Please advise.
THX! :)

2019-07-21T17:41:11+00:00 I read somewhere that this issue may be due to the SSD not turning off when device is shutdown. May explain why some users don’t experience this issue as there are different brands of SSD used in SP4.
In any case, i still think this is a hardware issue rather than software. That is why MS doesn’t want to fix it because it will cost them a lot of money. If it was a software issue, I think they would have fixed it by now.

2019-07-20T04:00:54+00:00 Why do you think it is a hardware issue? As far as I know, it affects all Surface Pro 4 PCs. Even if that were not the case, I would suspect this is a software problem that is drawing power when Windows is shutdown.
quite agree although not really sure. Years ago I ever had bad experience after an update, since then I use to make restore point before updating system. I remember last feb or march after updated a surface book (office property), used it for several days and noticed the battery drains faster than before... roll back to previous point and battery drains normally
I myself have an SP4, also got this battery drain issue. After one of the update 2 years ago the battery started to drain not normal even after shutting down still drain the battery... roll back to previous point and did not help. Started googling to find solutions and none of 'em worked. Finally I quit trying everything after read one statement from a forum discussion that said Microsoft already know the SP4 battery issue and couldn't do much because it related to security update issue.. IMHO this security update maybe not compatible with SP4 parts (processors or kind of stuff like that)
