my device is out of warranty :(
Battery Drains While Shutdown
I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.
I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.
Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.
I have all MS updates but the problem continues.
Please advise.
THX! :)

2019-07-16T11:08:15+00:00 I took my device to Microsoft and they exchanged it for a new device. If the issue continues with the new device I will be seeking a full refund.
All well and good if your device is in the warranty period - myself and most others this issue happens a few months out of warranty. (3 months for me)
Then we're left with just an expensive drinks tray.

I'm curious as to what external battery and connectors you are using as a work-around. Microsoft has not acknowledged this issue AFAIK and in my opinion, it is clear that Surface Engineering (as opposed to the Service Delivery Agents that respond in these forums and tell you to reimage to fix) does not acknowledge any specific issue until they have a fix (which could be never).
My neighbor with an SP4, who was previously afflicted with the dead typecover issue, bought one of those bluetooth typecovers and last month got hit the battery drain while shutdown problem. I could not find any driver issues. I reimaged it for him and that (of course) didn't solve the problem. He's now the happy owner of a Dell...
