Battery Drains While Shutdown

After waking it up at 8am yesterday morning to read the battery level I shut it down fully again.  At 9am this morning I turned it on and it just started to power on the (Surface appeared on the screen) and then it shut down.  To power it on again I had to connect the power supply and it showed 0% charge.  So in 32 hours it completely drained its battery when it was shut down.  I used to leave it a few weeks between uses sometimes and it would still have plenty of charge as long as it had been shut down or hibernated.

Let's hope it's not a battery health problem. If so, these methods below suggested won't help..

• Try to turn off fast start up

Open control panel, choose small icon in "view by" box... then look for Power Options, select Choose what the power button does, click Change settings that are currently unavailable, "uncheck" Turn on fast start-up, click Save changes

or

• Use command prompt to shut down

Open command prompt (as an administrator suggested).. type shutdown /s

then hit enter (if any dialog box appear just hit enter or click close)…. wait few seconds before it starts shut down itself

P.S. I think turn off fast start up won't help in your case, but give it a try won't do any harm too

That means around 2% battery drains every hour although being completely shut down.. Is it normal? I mean when you bought this surface pro 4 and used it for the first time.. have you ever noticed when shut down, the battery drain already in this 2% decrease condition every hour?

This same problem began for me several months ago and I also haven't been able to figure ANYTHING out to stop it.  Prior to that if I shutdown the Surface it would not drain the battery.  Now, Battery just drains away no matter what I do.  I have tried many or all things that have been suggested or I have read about.  It doesn't get hot or drain super fast, but I can't have it off for several days or a week or more without it eventually draining down to nothing.  It is interesting and probably an important symptom of this issue that when I run a sleepstudy it doesn't know what to do with the mysterious drain in battery when it comes back up.  It initially still reports the battery at the same level as last shutdown, but later just suddenly reports the new dropped battery level without any message as to why it dropped.

Thanks, hermantandela I did try that and fully charged it to 100% and shut it down fully at 1:00 am turned it on at 8 am and it was showing 82%
