Battery Drains While Shutdown

I had the same problem.. did some research online and found the solution (at least for me.. hope would work to others too)

So here's the solution... by disabling the Connected standby

Open run.. type regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Power

Click the "Power" folder.. look for "CsEnabled" and double click it

Change Value data to 0

Restart

I too now have this same problem.  It used to be fine until around December 2018.  I don't use the Surface Pro 4 regularly I use it when I'm going out and need a PC to support customers.  So its important that its charged when I need it.  I used to put it in hibernate and could pick it up and use it a few weeks later.  But now it is flat after 2 days.  Another issue which has appeared at around the same time is it doesn't always recognise the keyboard cover (I have 2 and neither are recognised so it is the Surface Pro 4)  There are hundreds of other users with this Keyboard problem as well if you look at other threads.  There was an update I did in December which flashed the internals with a firmware update.  I believe it is something to do with one of the internal microcontrollers that is draining the power and probably the same one that communicates with the cover keyboard and touchpad.  But there is no way for users to flash these.  Microsoft won't let you go back to an earlier version and I can't see any way of even verifying the code is valid.  Presume they are doing this for security, which is why they don't want to release a fix because it may put them in a bigger problem with security of the devices.

When it worked it was a nice device but I can't see me buying another Surface Pro.  Just bought a new iPad Pro 2018.  When I need to run PC apps I RDP to my desktop which has Wake on Lan

Same.  This is terrible! Cannot believe Microsoft is just flat out refusing to acknowledge this issue.  Soooooooo frustrating!!!!

Hey Microsoft,

It is apparent this is a problem for a lot of Surface users. It is also apparent to me that the various partial remedies and fixes suggested here are time consuming and possibly difficult for non-programmers to embrace. I think you are not serving your customers by making this situation more difficult than it needs to be. Please  come up with a simple, straightforward way to shut the Surface down so the battery will not drain. So users who want it to shut down completely can have that option easily, and those who do not mind if their battery slow leaks all the time can have it that way. As I read various e-mails about this problem, I get the uneasy feeling that Microsoft does not understand why this is a problem, and does not understand that not everyone is a computer programmer. I think you have become detached from your customers if they are not computer geeks. That does not make me feel like buying more Microsoft products in the future.
